- Description: Little Lagoon is a unique body of water for swimming, fishing and boating. Those of us who enjoy Little Lagoon have stewardship responsibilities over this precious resource. We are working with scientists from Dauphin Island Sea Lab and the Phytoplankton Monitoring Network to understand the challenges of keeping Little Lagoon healthy. Once we have chemical, bacteriological, and phytoplankton baselines, we can spot trends in quality and make better decisions about preservation.
